Our mission is to make backcountry aviation safer. We specialize in teaching wilderness medicine and survival skills for backcountry aviators and those who find themselves operating over the inhospitable terrain of the mountain west.We are available to speak at aviation events large and small. However, we specialize in teaching these skills in the backcountry for a powerful learning experience.From time to time we hold immersive multi-day seminars at various fly-in locations throughout Idaho.Check out our instagram page for any current class offerings.
Education
AME courses are taught by co-founders
Jon Miller and Joe Manzonie.Jon is an emergency physician, AME, aeromedical consultant and a certified flight instructor. As a fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine, he has spent many years teaching austere medicine. He’s a former US Air Force flight surgeon and critical care evacuation doc. If he isn't playing in the mountains he can be found flying over them in his home state of Idaho.Joe was raised on a cattle ranch in central Nevada before joining the Air Force, where he dedicated over 20 years as a Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) Specialist. Throughout his military career, he completed multiple overseas deployments and developed extensive expertise in emergency planning, survival techniques, and instruction. Joe leads a REMS team providing medical support to wildland fire personnel, and he is a licensed hunting guide in Idaho.
